- Barbara Meyer was born March 3rd, 1962 in Bonn, she is married and catholic.
- She studied law and finished in 1990
- 1990-1991 she worked with KPMG as a tax expert
- Since 1992 she holds positions for the government of the Free State of Saxony
- 1992 - 2003 she worked for the School Ministry, since 1998 she holds the position as department head
- as such she changed to the Ministry of Economy in 2003
